I'm really interested in making candles and soap, and I've googled it tons of times to make them naturally but I thought I'd come here for help too. Anyone here make natural soy candles and soap? Could you share recipes and tell me what supplies I will need? Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

fun stuff, cosmetics, soy, soap, non-food: recipes

She doesn't make it anymore because the warehouse where she ordered much of her oils was in New Orleans. After Katrina, she could not find as cheap or good scents and she refused to mark up her products. She made them in her kitchen and they last a while.
I cherish the few I have still from my wedding.
Little fortune cookie soaps in chinese take out boxes. I requested a sugar cookie scent. Thankfully the ingredients were natural because a few folks ... there were 2 reported incidents of biting, one confession of "I licked it to make sure" and one incident where a dog devoured them. No ill effect!

Anyway, she turned her site into a How-To.

My ex-girlfriend and I used to make soap in our kitchen. We bought all our supplies at the grocery store and used herbs from the garden. Pretty sure we had a book on soapmaking, as the internet wasn't terribly useful for that sort of thing back then.

It's not all that hard; lye is sold as a drain cleaner and you can use any type of oil or fat you want to.

I'm sure this goes without saying...but be careful when you're making soap! Lye is nasty stuff.
