For those of you who may have products including cleaning and cosmetics that were not so great in term of staying green, do you continually use those products until you run out and then make your own or purchase  more natural friendly products ( Read more... )

living: natural, recycle/reuse/reduce, living: green, green disposal, living: locally

It depends on the product. When the bath soaps that I was using started irritating my skin I gave them to friends who wanted specific scents (even if they were half full still.) I used everything else till I no longer had any left.

If I had bought a specific product believing it to be "green" and didn't like it I would only return it if the store had a satisfaction policy.

I continued using them, and honestly, I still keep some cleaners handly, mostly for emergency/safety purposes (notably, a box/bottle each of powdered and liquid bleach in case of questionable water safety or needing to dispose of dead things or human bathroom waste..i've dealt with WAY too many weather disasters to neglect this)

I would give them to a friend or use them up. Sending them back to the company is going to mean they get thrown away...might as well pass them along to someone who is likely to be using something along those lines anyway.

It depends. I have really sensitive skin and awful allergies so if I buy something (soaps or cleaning products) that irritates my skin or causes some other kind of allergic reaction, I give it away or throw it away. Otherwise I use it up unless it's something dangerous to my parrots. Like right now, I'm using all kinds of products I generally hate because my mother-in-law brought a bunch of stuff over and I don't want to waste them... but I gave back the aerosol sprays.

I'd keep using them until they run out. Less waste and with our tight budget, I couldn't really afford to replace many things at once anyway.
