overnight cloth diapers

My cloth diaper adventure is going great so far and the only kink I've had is overnight diapering. I use Bububebe fitted with all three liners or a tiny tush fitted with the doubler in. I also tried my home-made fitted with three infant pre-folds stuffed inside but  it was still not enough.  He sleeps 12 full hours without waking up at night (he is ( Read more... )

Another vote for changing the diaper before you go to bed - and perhaps again in the middle of the night when you have to get up to go to the bathroom. Don't worry about waking him up - keep lights low and don't talk to him and he won't wake up that much.

My toddler used to soak EVERYTHING!!! I never worried about it too much - you just have to clean him up in the morning. Everything's washable, and parenting isn't anything if it isn't work.

my diapering days were a while ago, so i don't know if this product is still available, but i'm sure the general idea is valid. i used mostly "mother-ease" diapers with a velcro or snap closure cover that had a waterproof lining between cotton layers, & most of the time these were fine. However, for overnight when my kid was no longer an infant, i would sometimes throw in an extra liner from my "other diapers" pile, and---here's the key---i'd pull on a wool soaker over the diaper/snap cover. those knitted wool soakers are brilliant! i only had 2 or 3, but they don't need much washing; just airing between uses, generally. ok, her bum looked a bit giant-size, but no one else sees it at night. for extra protection of sheets, etc, i like those cotton flannelette covered waterproof pads sold to cover crib matresses, etc. they are thin but soft, washable, packable.
