Essential oils

I want to buy some essential oils and some coconut oil and stuff like that. I live in the middle of nowhere though so my only option is online. I was wondering if anyone had any good sites. So far I've looked on amazon but I was wondering if there were any cheaper sites to buy the stuff off of.

recommendations, resources, shopping, essential oils

Be careful with cheap essential oils. You get what you pay for.

Mountain Rose Herbs is a favorite, well trusted site by many people, with good quality oils.

I often buy from Jack at CH Imports. He deals in bulk quantities of EOs without minimum order requirements, so you get some really good pricing without sacrificing too much quality. These are not always top of the line oils but they are good. His website is antiquated, and doesn't even have a price list, but you can e-mail him your address and he'll send you a hard copy price list. He will also send you samples of any oils you are interested in purchasing, so you can see what you're getting before you order.

Good point. I guess I'm just trying to figure out what brands are good oils and which aren't. Thanks for the link!

I buy essential oils at the local health-food store, so I'm afraid I'm no help recommending a specific web site.

One thing I can tell you is that the AuraCacia and Starwest essential oils are both good quality and have a wide selection of different essences.

Like the lady above said, be wary of very cheap oils, or ones where every type of oil is the same price. When a company is making essential oils, the different raw materials cost different amounts and yield varying quantities of oil. So lavender or orange oil is going to cost much less than, say, frankincense or cardamon.

This is the coconut oil I buy. That's actually a cheap price for it, at my health food store it's about $14 for only one of those glass jars.

A word of caution on cheap oils - you may be purchasing more harm than good. If it isn't certified organic, you're purchasing something that has been chemically altered, and in some cases heavily diluted. This will affect the aroma and the therapeutic properties.

I purchase all of my oils from Aromatics International: http://www.aromaticsinternational.com/

All of their oils are certified organic, and they have their GCMS reports available online for public access so you can see exactly what components are in each oil. It's a really great company and they are very friendly.
