Compost and Dryer Lint - Do They Go Together?

I always feel silly when I'm cleaning out dryer lint and just throwing it in the trash. It's all natural fibers, isn't it, so could I put it in the compost if I wanted to? (I also know that I could line dry my clothes, which would make dryer lint a non-issue, but I don't have the space for a line - I live in an apartment ( Read more... )

My clothes are all cotton, and all my lint goes to the compost pile. So does my hair and the cats' fur.

Put it out for the birds to use for their nests, or compost it.

Here in Southern Ontario, they have city compost programs, and they take dryer lint and hair. If you cut your own hair, you could also sweep up the hair and put that in the compost pile, too.

I put my hair, dog hair, and lint in the compost, no problem.

You can compost it. But if there are synthetic fibers in the lint, you should only use the compost for flowers, not veggies. For all natural fibers, it's all good.
