I found this recipe on the internet for making deodorant.  I really, really love it.  It works wonders for me, but it tends to irritate my skin.  What else can I add to it that would be a little more moisturizing?  Maybe another all natural butter or oil?  I used sweet orange oil in the deodorant to give it a scent, so maybe something that would ( Read more... )

cocoa butter doesn't small like chocolate really.

It usually has a very light buttery smell to me? Also adding the EO should cover it.

:( well that is sad about the baking soda, but you are right. it is worth it compared to the other options. i might just use less baking soda and coconut oil for the next batch, too. and witch hazel before! thanks a bunch!

perhaps 2 spoons of baking soda and 3 corn starch would be less irritating.

Orange can be really irritating as well as being photosensitive. You might try a different oil. That said, shea butter really iritates my skin, too. Have you used other shea butter products without issue?

hmmm. i didn't know that about orange. do you know any different oils that aren't irritating? i am new to making my own products. i haven't had a problem with shea butter in the past, though.
