Natural Deodorant Disappointment

Oct 15, 2008 13:02

For approximately three months I've been using natural deodorants, but I've had to try three different kinds and have had very little success with any of them. I'd love feedback to know if any of you have had similar problems or if you have any suggestions of alternatives ( Read more... )

i've had no luck with tom's of maine, the crystal stuff, nature's gate, kiss my face, etc. i have a ton of mostly full deodorants sitting in my medicine cabinet. :P

the two things i've found that work are something called herbal clear (which i can no longer find where i live) and lush's aromacreme. the herbal clear works for me for about 8-12 hours, but when it stops working it STOPS. like all the sudden. the aromacreme is pretty awesome, but you have to do it just so... i have to put lotion on my armpits, then get a little of the deodorant on my finger, run it under some water, and apply it. if i don't do it just that way it dries out my underarms and they peel and get all irritated.

i hope you find something that works for you! trying to find the right thing can be so frustrating.

I really like the coconut one from Lush. Its is in powder form and based on baking soda.

Same for me, too. Tom's made my armpits all yucky and red for a little while and then it mysteriously stopped doing that and never did it again. It doesn't work for me long term though. It did when I went a few months without drinking coffee but my coffee habit seems to make me require stronger deodorant.

i have the exact same problem. i switched to arm & hammer essentials natural deodorant a while back. so far, so good. doesn't even sting.

there's conflicting info about how natural it really is, but it's working for me.

Adidas makes one that is all cotton, no aluminum [which as far as I know is the main culprit of badness in most 'normal' deodorants] and I have used it previously, it works great. Just sometimes if you get a weird scent the smell is kind of overwhelming.

But..but I just saw it at a store recently, I could swear! Maybe they brought it back? I should check and report back. Or maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about.

Last time I checked, they "reformulated" it so it includes aluminum
