Stuffing older down comforter...

I am looking into stuffing/refilling the chambers of my current down comforter? I do not want to purchase a new one because this one is in fine shape, just has lost its fluff. It is over 8 years old. I am not sure if this is humanly possible but I am looking forward to the challenge. Has anyone attempted this in the past? I was looking into ( Read more... )

When my down comforter is looking and feeling deflated, I either have it cleaned, or take it to the laundromat and dry it in one of those big dryers. Perks it right up!

I have done both. The poor thing still looks wimpy and worn. Hehe.

I'm not sure how down comforters are set up, but if it's kinda a taco with the edges sewed together (instead of little squares or whatnot like a checkerboard), maybe you could tear up old t-shrits and stuff it with small bits. Wouldn't be as soft or fluffly, but should help insulate, and it would be reusing stuff that would otherwise go to the dump. Sorry I can't really help you more :[

This is a great suggestion. My husband goes through white undershirts like you would not believe. Aside from the underarms, what a great use for the rest of the shirt. I am not concerned as much about fluffiness, as I am warmth.
