Tea! It's the only thing that's ever worked for my sis. Brew up some tea, enough to soak your feet in (I believe she used maybe 4 bags). Let it chill though it doesn't have to be cold. Then soak your feet for about 20 minutes. She did this every day, twice a day for about 5 days, but after that she was able to cut down to 3 times a week.

She did say that it stained at first (her feet), which may be rather unbecoming. But again, she'd tried *everything* under the sun to cure her foot odor and was amazed at the tea-trick.

I saw Dr. Oz talking about this on Oprah a few months ago. Apparently it really works. heh :)

Does it have to be black tea?

I'm willing to try anything myself at this point (unless I get to wear open sandals at work all the time, but THAT isn't going to happen). I swear mine is genetic, Dad and my niece have same issues too.

Certainly runs in my family as well, I just happened to miss that genetic boat ;-)

I believe it does have to be black tea, it has to do with the tannins, and black tea has more.

Mix baking soda into some water until you can no longer dissolve any more baking soda into it. Let the excess settle and pour the clear mixture off the top into a fine-misting spray bottle. Spray it on your feet and let it dry before putting your shoes on. For a little added antibacterial benefit, you can add a couple of drops of lavender essential oil. Shake well each time before using.

Seconded, this works for me. It's also good to put onto the soles of shoes that are starting to retain odour.

If the shoes are cloth, they're probably machine washable. Just throw them in with the wash every now and then.

I just re-read your post and realized you're looking for a solution for your feet, not your shoes. Washing your shoes should help cut down on the odour, anyway.

I've just started doing this (and my feet were stinky even with socks) and it's amazing! I can run around all day with out socks and at the end of the day, both my shoes and feet are odor free!

Gran's Remedy, which is a powder but which is infallible.

A lot of people recommend peppermint oil.
