uses for bean broth?

so, wise mamas, what do you do with that tasty, nutritious liquid left in the pot after you make your legumes? seems a waste to pour it down the drain or even into the compost. i'm very interested in what y'all suggest, as i've just recently started trying to find purposes for it. please, inspire me!

I've never used it for anything, but maybe a broth for a veggie soup?

No problemo. Its like when people use the potato water from boiling potatos thye use it for gravy for turkey dinners. :p

Maybe I'm just mixing this up with the water you soak the legumes in... but I thought it was bad for you?

the broth isn't bad for you. I just cook it down until its thick and yummy and then serve the beans over brown rice

This. If there's too much left to cook down easily, you're using more water than you need. I never even thought about having liquid "left over".

i didn't mean the soaking water. the cooking water, with the spices and all that, is what i'm trying to find uses for.

Freeze it in batches and use it like a stock for tortilla soup or beef stew.

Oops, I don't know if you're vegan or not. Sorry bout that, I'm not. I guess that you could use it like stock for vegetable stews.

I save some of the beans, add them to the liquid with veggies and sometimes canned tomatoes and make soup. Bean and corn chowder is really good.

And if you have too much still, after all the other great suggestions, it's AWESOME for watering plants.
