New statistics

Jan 18, 2018 14:27

I just looked at the statistics of my journal and I can see now a report which I think is new (I don't remember to see that one before, but I don't really check statistics very often). It's Subscription statistics, in the Friends tab menu. Is it report really new? Are they adding new things?

diary, statistics, lj

They added this new subscriptions feature recently, it allows you to to subscribe to journals and get their public posts in your feed without friending them. I am not sure how it is reflected in statistics but I assume they added it there too.

I didn't know that subscriptions was a new option, I though you could subscribe to someone for a long time, but maybe I am confusing with DW journal.

Yeah, it is a relatively new option here. Previously you had to friend someone to get their posts into your feed but that also gave them access to your friends-only posts. Now you can subscribe to them instead of friending them and get their public posts into your feed without giving them access to your friend-locked posts.

It works in the same way on Dreamwidth, I like it.

It's new but not extremely new. I remember reading about that update some months ago. I subscribe to a few journals myself, but I am not sure how it goes in statistics. I have some subscribers, but when I get the weekly report, I don't see it listed.

I usually add people instead subscribing but there are some people who prefer subscribe each others for a while before add you to their friend list. Statistics is not useful for me but maybe for communities or for those people who write fanfiction it can we good to know what kind of topics people read more I guess.
