Boyish? Girlish?
Japanese has many words of the first person, in a word, many "I".
私（わたし/watashi）、あたし(atashi)、僕（ぼく/boku）、俺（おれ/ore）、自分（じぶん/jibun）、うち(uchi)、わし(washi)、おら(ora)、拙者（せっしゃ/sessha）、小生（しょうせい/shousei）、某（なにがし/nanigashi）、我(われ/ware)、我輩(わがはい/wagahai)、当方(とうほう/touhou)、俺様(おれさま/oresama)……
All these words mean "I"! How creepy!! But it's Japanese XD
We usually use 私、僕、俺 in these.
Now I tell you the difference of these "I".
*私 watashi*
It's usually used by girls and women. But men use this in public like on business with honorifics. You can hear Japanese politicians say "watakushi". It sounds like they are quite polite persons.
*僕 boku*
This word isn't often used in real life. But it suits what a little boy says about himself. And also adult men use on business. Boku is more refined expression than ore(俺).
There are girls who say "boku" on manga and anime at times. It sounds they're "boyish" girls. But girls barely say "boku" in real life. It's a bit wierd. You can think the girl who says "boku" is fantasy for anime and manga.
*俺 ore*
It's usually used by boys and men. It sounds casual.
On Hetalia, Elizaveta use "I" on the two ways, 俺 and 私.

She thought "I'm a boy", and she used a word, "俺" as a boy.

She has used "私" since she realized herself as a female.
