I've been watching stuff lately and thinking stuff I want to say, but then I forget about it.

Target has The Ref for $5. If you do not own this movie, or you know someone who doesn't, go buy it! It is my favorite adult Christmas movie. (My favorite childhood Christmas movie is Miracle on 34th Street.)

I recently re-watched Live Free or Die Hard. ( Read more... )

Why do you consider "Miracle on 34th St." a "childhood" x-mas movie? Isn't the whole point of the movie to teach adults not to lose the wonder of X-mas?

When I think of childhood x-mas movies, I think of "The Santa Clause". Favorite adult x-mas movie is a tie - "The Bells of St. Marys" and "Going My Way". Both of these remind us of the true meaning of x-mas. Childhood favorites are not movies - "Frosty the snowman" and "a charlie brown Christmas" (which I haven't watched since Shultz died...)

I consider Miracle on 34th Street a childhood movie because it was a favorite when I was in childhood. I wasn't making a comment on the themes or for whom it was intended. I don't think I've ever seen The Bells of St. Mary's or Going My Way; they always seemed a bit … boring.

As for the half-hour Christmas specials, my favorite was How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I loved Max the dog and little Cindy Lou Who (who was no more than 2).
