You're completely right that Garofalo should star in more romantic comedies. Unfortunately Hollywood has decreed that the female leads in romantic comedies should be conventionally Hollywood-pretty but not necessarily funny, which is presumably one of the reasons why so many recent Hollywood romantic comedies have been comparative flops. It's bizarre that Hollywood executives are more comfortable with the idea of unfunny actresses playing comic roles than they are with the idea that most women experience romance (yes, even those of us don't look like Barbie dolls).

I was going to protest that The Truth about Cats and Dogs was a Hollywood production, but then realized that it had Uma Thurman to bring the pretty. Probably the only reason it got made. Then Hollywood thought 'oh, maybe this woman who isn't conventionally pretty can carry a romantic comedy' so they stuck her with a poor script and when the movie failed to do well, blamed it on the actress. ::sigh:: Sometimes you can't win.

Congrats on the cooking! It just goes to show that you have the skill, it's just not your focus. I totally get it.

Good news on the eye front. Nice to know it's not a tumor.
