Francis sipped his cup of coffee as he exited the elevator. His feet tapped against the ground as he made his way through the desolate halls of the sixth floor of Nationcorp ( ... )

Yao halted in his tracks and blinked at Francis once before settling back on his heels and giving the other man an interested look, "Dinner? Ivan did not tell me about a dinner."

He was pretty sure that Ivan would have informed him of a business-related dinner. Or was it really necessary? On the other hand, Yao wasn't his keeper. But something in his gut told him it was a little strange.

But he also thought Francis, from what little he knew about him, wouldn't lie with any kind of malicious intent. He shook his head a couple times and smiled.

"Ah, I'm sorry, I did not mean to sound like I doubted you. I was just on my way to get some tea from the break room, would you like to come? You can tell me more about it on the way..."

Francis nodded and held the door open for his shorter companion as he exited. He would escort Yao to the kitchen, but would waste no time in informing him of his plan.

"Ivan, you see, was supposed to campaign Nationcorp to some potential investors at this dinner. I have to attend since I'm hosting the event. Unfortunately, I only had one other seat and I thought giving it to the Director or his Vice was most appropriate."

He took another sip of coffee as he was getting slightly more nervous. He closed his eyes and tried wash the feelings of worry that would inevitably taint his gaze.

He calmed himself, though, and continued.

"I thought it best to ask the Director first--strictly business, Yao, not personal preference..." though Francis was sure Yao already knew this.

Another sip to keep himself occupied, "I'm surprised he didn't tell you. But I cannot find him and I need you to go in his stead. These customers are heavy share holders in our company and a good presentation might commit a few more investments!"

Yao listened to Francis' explanation as they walked down the hall towards the stairs intently, watching the other man with slightly raised eyebrows. Francis seemed a little nervous. Worry over the dinner, perhaps?

He narrowed his eyes a bit when Francis assured him that this was strictly business but shook his head and turned back to the hall before them. Looking back at his companion after another moment, he frowned and drew his eyebrows together upon seeing Francis take a second sip of his coffee.

When they reached the stairwell, he paused outside the door and raised his eyebrows higher when Francis finished, resting his hand on the door handle lightly as he digested everything he had been told.

"... The dinner is tonight?" He asked, already suspecting that the answer was "yes," otherwise Francis probably wouldn't look as worried as he did.
