Well, I didn't really summon anything, they were all their own selves! I used to play and dance with the mörrimöykkys in my forests, but I had to be careful of the näkki in the lake! And the menninkäinen would play tricks and ask riddles, and they drank a lot too. I'd ask them about who they used to be when there were living people, but eventually they stopped remembering. And I guess there was Surma, he guards the Underworld! I didn't really see him much though.

But when Sverige brought his Bible over, I had to let him and everyone else go. Er, well, I was supposed to...

Perhaps the best-known creature in Austro-Hungarian folklore is the demon-like Krampus, a less benevolent assistant to Santa Claus.

It is not summoned, per se; however, the tradition is upheld every December by village youths masquerading as Krampus. It is a time-honored fixture of our culture.
