I can give you plenty of reasons "why not."

For one, he's artificial. He's man-made. His "land" has no permanence. If a large enough wave were to ever come along, Sealand would be no more. The country's population is small enough that whenever his boss' family leaves, the place becomes completely deserted because they're the only citizens! Maybe if he had some PERMANENT land and a population that I can't count on one hand, then MAYBE I'd THINK about considering him a nation -- emphasis on "maybe" and "think."

Oh wow! That... that commercial looks like it's perfect to promote Sealand tourism! I have to inform the tourism committee right away!

And a nation of 'Why Not?' Sounds like it's perfect for me! Why not become a legitimate member of nobility for the small price of 20 euros? Why not try to enter the Fifi even if I don't exactly have room for the standard sized field? Why not try and get a satellite from Russia to launch into space and try to contact extra terrestrial life forms- I mean start an ace online casino with? The possibilities of Sealand are ENDLESS!

... You're going through the trouble of launching a satellite to contact aliens? You know that there's one sitting on my couch eating my Doritos right now, right?

... Yeah but I was thinking more of the ace space-pirate types who could take me on adventures in their starship and stuff... and less of the Doritos eating variety.

Well maybe if you ask him...? It's not like Doritos-eating is all he does...
