The people are our strength so. . .yes, it can hurt, in both ways. I-it's hard to answer this kind of question. . .

Why do you want to know?

Truthfully? Because my friend and I find your (and the other countries) exsistence fascinating. We've been watching and reading the comics trying to see how you actually represent a country. Like how come there's a North and South Italy because they were split up in the papal states but there aren't different Frances for when they were split (Aquitain and etc.)

I came up with the idea that Hetalia countries aren't tied down by the land boundries but by ethnic groups. My friend blinks at me and goes, "Oh ouch. So does that mean like when they have a civil war and crap they actually feel their people warring against each other?" I've actually read a few fanfics where America and Japan could actually feel Pearl Harbor/September 11th and Hiroshima/Nagasaki before they hear it on the news ( ... )

You work... way hard to protect them. You form alliances and build up armies to keep everyone safe but then when you turn around, you see that people are unhappy and... It sort of feels like, I dunno, you fell from a way high place yeah, it totally hurts. If you know how that feels, then like, of course you worry about other countries when they're attacked.

And they're like, not my children 'cos then that would like, be saying I'm their parent and over them or something and I'm definitely not. In the end, it doesn't matter how important you are, we are all Polish.

W-well...well, I don't know about civil wars and the like, and I haven't been around nearly as long as a lot of the others...but the Occupation by Japan left scars on both me and my brother. And while my brother's were mostly from Japan himself, some of the worst wounds that we both have are from what Japan's soldiers did to our people.

Without people, we wouldn't exist. Every person who calls themself a Hongkonger is a part of me, just like every person who calls themself a German is a part of Germany, or a Pole is a part of Poland, or an American is a part of America. And while there are ethnic groups with no countries, there are no countries without people.

Wars aren't on nations, they're on the people of that nation. We say we've "gone to war" with which ever nation, but it's our people killing other people...and that's what hurts.
