Fun fact: in the "Currents" (opinion) section of today's Philadelphia Inquirer, both columnist Michael Smerconish and letter-writer Tom Crouch refer to the outcry over Don Imus as a "lynching." Oh, those wacky racists. Always good for a laugh.

I refer to it as "capitalism". As in, when advertisers figure out that it is no longer in their interest to purchase ads on your show, you are quite likely to be canceled.

Second. From what I am reading, his show was distasteful as hell to begin with. This isn't a singular incident - the entire scandal seems like a show hiding something else (loss of profits, another scandal, etc) underneath it.

Michael Smerconish is a toolbox. He was our judge for mock trial city championships junior year, and when the other team didn't do a good cross examination of Aaron (blacksburg), HE decided to try and rip him apart (he didn't). We just sat there like, "Why is this bald bastard trying to kill our witness?"

Fuckin' toolbag.

His column actually was pretty hilarious if you approached it in the right frame of mind - his basic point was "Imus shouldn't have been fired because I spew hateful ignorance all the time, and I'm an upstanding dude." He actually listed some of the sexist, homophobic and Islamophobic shit he's been called on, and said it doesn't matter because Muslims, sissies and working women are destroying America. It's a fairly masterful self-takedown, actually; apparently he couldn't get Aaron, but he sure can destroy his own credibility.
