Meet the latest addition to our house. He is a one year old Shih-Tzu/Lhasa/? mix and weighs about 16 pounds. We got him from a rescue, who found him as a stray. He's horribly matted and cut down quite a bit but amazingly adorable.

I got nothing for names though. Maybe a comic book character name, none of which are springing to mind.

Man, I totally would not name my pet based on a reference to something else. What if he dies? Then everyone time you read Salinger stories you would be sad because Zooey was your dogs name.

Then again, it's a huge pain in the arse to come up with a name that doesn't reference anything.
