Start with that community college. Go down there and talk to admissions, and talk to financial aid. It may not cost as much as you think. It may not cost anything up front at all, depending on the situation.
Yes, it sucks to think about 2 more years where you are. But in 2 years you can be through training for a new, better job, or ready to go on to a 4-year school... or you can still be feeling stuck. This is the same pep talk I gave my sister when she was considering graduate school. You can be almost 23 with a new path, or almost 23 on the same path you are now.
Change your compass.
And this DOES affect us, darlin', because we love you and we want you to be happy. *HUGS YOU LOTS*
I'm definitely not against going to a community college. That's actually where I want to be. I think in this case it was more the one in my town. There was one I was eying in Seattle that offered a lot more classes and had a better location.
But.
Beggars can't be choosers.
And you're definitely right and make a really good point that even if it is two more years, at least I'll be on a better path than I am now. And I already have a steady job here so at least I don't have to worry about paying for college AND finding an apartment and job.
But thanks tons Shannon. The pep talk definitely helped and it was refreshing to hear it from someone who has a career and knows what they're talking about :) ♥
My suggestion would be trying the community college if you can, even though that's not your ideal. You would be stuck where you are for a while longer, but I think it could be a stepping stone to other opportunities down the road. Or maybe taking some online classes. I know that all costs money and like you said, you can't really afford to cut down much on your hours. There could possibly be some financial aid or scholarships opportunities that could help.
Or maybe you could try volunteering at a place that you might like to work in the future.
I'm sorry, I know none of this is probably very helpful. Just know that sometimes going to school doesn't make anything better. I'm about to graduate and I'm terrified of not being able finding a job and not knowing where to go next in life.
If it's something you really want, don't let circumstances stop you from trying to go after it. You can't change the past, but I'd like to think that humans have some control over their destiny if they actively try to change it.
:) I probably phrased this all wrong. It wasn't the community college I was against it was the location. I know if I want to get ANYWHERE that I would have to start off in a CC. You're absolutely right that it's a good stepping stone. And it's definitely one I want to take.
I never really thought about volunteering though. That's a really good idea that I'll definitely have to look into. If it's doing something I enjoy than the no pay won't matter.
Thanks for that!
And you'll do amazing. You project? Fabulous. So good. It brought back so much nostalgia and had me missing something I never thought I would again. You're pretty determined so I'm pretty confident you'll go far <3
(I talk WAY TO FREAKING MUCH. Sorry. It didn't all fit).
I have no earthly idea if that helped at all, and I know you think this is bad and embarrassing, but I just see it as you moving forward. You can't change it if you don't think anything is wrong. And you've gotten to that part already. So you're already on your way.
And you know what? If you turn around one day and decide you do like what you're doing, and don't want college and you're going to stay that way? I'll still think you're the same intelligent girl you are now. I think the most important thing is to just always be working towards what you want. And if what you want is out? Then you should work towards that. If you ever find yourself happy with everything, then stick with it.
But that's just my silly 2 cents! Take it for what you will!
Oh, and P.S. I agree with dreamer_98 about the volunteering thing. Even if it's not someplace you want to work, I just think anything that might boost your confidence or just make you feel good right now can only mean progress. It's not for

That's really why I admire you guys so much. Because you worked for it and you worked hard. It wasn't handed to any of you and wasn't easy but you achieved it

I suck. Cause I have no advice that hasn't been said already and said a lot better than I can. And also, this post reminds me a lot of my own insecurities. How I never went to school, or I tried, but never finished, not even close. I've got no degree. I've got nothing. And I'm 26. So I pretty much feel like a failure on a daily basis. I don't like my job. It sucks to be honest. I'm not doing what I want to do. I am not even CLOSE to doing what I really want to do. So honest to god, if you ever need to see how much you've accomplished (and you've accomplished so FUCKING MUCH, bb. Don't EVER sell yourself short. Cause at 20? YEAH. YOU'RE A FUCKING ROCKSTAR) just look at my life, and you'll feel a lot better. And I'm not even saying that to be bitter cause it's true
