Okay, a few links.

I cannot believe Jamie Bamber agreed to do an entire photo shoot in a towel. I'm kind of embarrassed for him.

dingogrrl notes that next month marks the anniversary of Conner Kent's death (in the comics). We should all prepare a little creative bit of grave-marking for him. Wouldn't it be nice to have a challenge in memory of Conner/Kon ( Read more... )

I'm embarassed for Jamie, too. It seems tacky and vain to indulge in being thought of as a sex object.

Your post about the GQ article was admirably provocative. I just wish I'd ever seen those shows. Heroes is a huge temptation for me, especially since it's getting so much attention now. My friend who got me into BSG is obsessed with Heroes so I think I'd get sucked in just like her. And I downloaded a free episode (the pilot?) of Friday Night Lights from iTunes, but I haven't watched it yet. :( Keep up your musings, though -- I find them interesting to read!

I thought the GQ article was really interesting, but having only seen 2-3 eps of Heroes (and been rather confused/unimpressed) I didn't feel like I could really weigh in. FNL rocks though.

Hee, you don't have to sit in the corner, I swear. I meant to reply to this before and I'm terrible. I had time to be all big with the discussing awhile back, but obviously I'm a let down here. I'm glad you enjoyed the scans regardless!

this is baaaad... I thought you'd posted the photo shoot on your LJ (as in, I hadn't realised it was a link to another LJ) and I posted a comment thinking I was talking to you. I think the comment was deleted but I can't be sure as there's like 3 pages of comments so far lol.

*embarrassed*

ah no, I found it, it's still there... doesn't make it less embarrassing though.

It's kinda sad that Homeland piqued my interest more here, isn't it? *g* Especially because you're *not* gonna get something better if you decide it's "stupid" to want it is something I'd like printed out and plastered to my wall sometimes. And I've always loved the 'belief gives something meaning" thing - right down to the fairies in Peter Pan, which okay, wasn't meaning so much as a physical existence, but we can interpret...

Whoa, deja vu. Spooky, but I think I've talked about this before and I have no idea where.

Anyway, okay, the more I ramble, the more I want to read it now. You might be on to something. *g*

Really? I must not have conveyed my point very well, then, because Homeland basically relegates hope for a better future to the realm of perverted dreams. Whereas Citizen Vince says, yeah, look around and here's reality, where cops are corrupt and politics are manipulative, but standing up and doing what little we can is better than accepting that we're stuck here and don't make any difference, anyway. (Granted, neither of these books is something I would have read had they not been assigned to me. I kinda love this class.)

Also, you distracted with the Peter Pan reference--was that a subtle nudge back to my Peter Pan AU? Because I sat up and went OH YEAH! (That's also possibly somewhere we've discussed this already?)
