In the Episode Archives, after you've clicked on a thumbnail to get the big picture, there is a series of three arrows above the screen cap: previous, back (to thumbnails), and next. DOES ANYONE ACTUALLY USE THESE
( Read more... )
I say do whatever is the easiest on you, your time and wrists.
directional buttons are nice, but it isn't that hard to use one's browser button and go back out to the main page and dive back in. I certainly wouldn't go back in and change anything you've already done.
I think it is more important for the ep picture archives to be complete than it is to have bells and whistles that take up too much of your precious time and energy. God knows there is relatively little thanks for any hard work to be found in fandom these days, I'm willing to be that no one will notice or complain.
Yes, if you just click on one picture, you can back out easily with the browser's back button, but if you use the "next" or "previous" buttons a few times, then the browser's "back" takes you through everything you've looked at again before you get back to the "index" page (which is no longer called "index", which is where the problem lies).
For now, however, I think I'm with you in that it's more important to get the episodes done and posted, and worry about the bells and whistles later.
I use them sometimes ... when I find a series of caps that I want to click through. Otherwise, I just like to look at the thumbnails and then click on the particular cap I want to see in detail. So, as far as I'm concerned, if it's too much work to code for the directional buttons, don't bother! I don't think anyone will die if you don't include them anymore. I know I won't! ;-)
Thanks, that's good to know. Yeah, that's the problem ... clicking through a series of pictures and then not being able to get back to the "index" page.
Unfortunately, it would be just as much work to *remove* the "up/back" button as it is to reprogram it, so the button will remain but will direct to a nonexistent page. Some people may find that frustrating. I suppose I could post a disclaimer on the page warning that not all the navigation buttons work properly. ;-)
It's fine the way it is, Nat. We can use our back button if we want to. Let your wrists rest. :) Thank you for all of the hard work you're doing on these pages. Hugs, Patt
I'd say leave them as they are. If, once all the eps are up (with the heartfelt thanks of all of us for making these screencaps available) you feel like going back in and making those changes, well, you can do it at your own speed as you're in the mood. But I don't really think you need to.
You're probably right. I doubt that most people are going to notice and it's a lot of work if the majority don't really care. I think I'll just finish up all the episodes and then, as you say, go back as time allows and fix things ... but only when I feel like it. :-)
I also think you should leave them as they are and save yourself all that extra work. As bluewolf458 says you can always go back and make the changes at a later date if you want to but I think they are good how they are.
You are very good to take the time to do all this and it is a great resource to have. Thank you for all your hard work.
