Startup Name Change

Jun 08, 2011 21:18

We are thinking of changing our startup name from 3dcapture.it to MatterPort. Motivation: we are looking for something a little more flexible (in case our product changes) and evocative as opposed to super-literal. It sounds fun to say too.  Any feedback?

Also, we were in BusinessWeek!

Definitely looks more like an actual company name, and more like something you're meant to be able to say out loud.

I'm so quietly excited by everything you are doing. Go, You! I have been quietly coming up with all kinds of applications and business directions I think you should go in. I don't know more about your product than what you have posted, but although MatterPort is fun to say, it doesn't seem to tell me what your product does as well as 3dcapture.it. So if you're really taking this in the direction of "look, we made a replicator that will be able to make real stuff" then MatterPort is the way to go.. if you're mainly focusing on digitizing "real" objects for use in the virtual environment, I like the 3dcapture.it name. I imagine you're doing both.. so .. I guess this wasn't a very helpful post.

But you still rock. This week I want to market your software to gyms and fitness professionals and personal trainers, who can scan their clients before and after the 12 week routine and superimpose to see actual, real results.
