I don't think I necessarily valued my single life, but maybe if I had I'd agree more that DC is a good place to do it. I think it really helped that I had a good network of friends through grad school, otherwise, I might be a lot more likely to be depressed (as I am a depressnick).

Yes, it was so easy to meet people in DC and do things with them, everyone was into something -- hiking, martial arts, museums, all kinds of get-togethers, practicing French, you name it.

Here in small town in Holland it's just home and family for people -- that's it (its just like any other small town I guess).

I look at my neighbor, young girl and think, what a tough place to be single

But I don't know if it's the nature of Holland or any small town. My friend and I had fun being single in Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
