So... I'm from Brazil, right? So when I was a teenager, being a literature buff meant you had to read the Great Classics, by which I mean Flaubert, Balzac, Voltaire, Kafka, Dostoievsky, Tolstoy, Machado de Assis, etc.  And some more contemporary stuff, too, like Nabokov and Perec.
