Looking to Move!

Aug 17, 2007 00:30

Tomorrow I start calling my prepared list of 10-20- maybe 30 contacts of potential roommates. I'm going book appointments and go to appointments until my schedule is full for the next few days. Average price is 500$, usually tipping a tad over for some reason or other. Occasionally less. I've spent the past week looking daily through hundreds of ( Read more... )

Hey mr_marlboro August 19 2007, 03:31:27 UTC
Sorry to post here. I'm banned from the "toronto" community. I notice your looking for a room/roomates.

It really hard choosing. You don't know how people will turn out until you live with them. Believe it or not, the most important issues when living with roomates is: toilet paper, garbage and dishes. Those three things ruin how well you like the place and who you live with. It sounds so trivial, but for anyone with roomates. those become the major issues when you're living with other people. Perhaps noise can be added to, but I'm not too bothered by noise inside the house.

hmmm. thanks for the heads up. i was mentally pushing down those priorities, but i think i get picture clear enough now. sure. i'll become the toilet paper buying guy, that's easy bonus points. i already do garbage and compost and newspaper sorting regularly, so that's not new. thanks!

a lot of times, you feel that you are the only one doing these things. i've lived in places before where i was the only one taking out the garbage or buying toilet paper. sure, you can be cheerful and willing to do that, but after a while, especially when you come home from work tired and you can't use the kitchen because it isn't clean or you have to take out the garbage because it smells, it get anoying.

hey, if you move close to bloor/spadina i can show you around some places on bike.

by that time it's already too late. this problem should be realized early, in the first week or two. i have some experience managing difficult situations, i think i could convince people to do their properly share work. since i plan to cooking for myself and eating alone, I only want to scrub my own messes. if they're offering to share meals, then i'm thinking to offer assistance cleaning those peoples dishes as immediate partial repayment of services given (warm food served). If it has to be scheduled, then so be it, it's scheduled.
