I'm addicted to copying photos! There's no need to figure the composition and lighting, and it makes you feel like you're good without needing to be creative :D

Thank you so much, hon! You know what's funny with the aged look? It's that it's really the mustache that does it all. I painted it last, and before I did, the face looked very young and a lot like Swoff from Jarhead. And then, with the mustache, 40 yo Jack Twist suddenly appeared...
This is just spectacular and I completely agree with you about the moustache nicknames - ugh. I think Jack Twist is beautiful at any age because of his optimism and ability to love and hold onto passion. My heart melts when I look at your painting..you've done an amazing job. And I also think this is the image I have of Jack when I read "Somebody New". I hope jennasts sees your dedication.
wow. absolutely beautiful. I like how you chose to do the older Jack because, as you said, he's not just the young man in love and, to be totally honest, I like him better as the older man who's seen pain but still loves. Yes, he was more aesthetically attractive before the mustache, but he's a stronger character afterwards. You've definitely captured that in this portrait. I also love the way watercolor makes the blobs of color which work really well in this portrait, especially in his jacket.
Yeah, now that I'm thinking back on it, I realise it's older Jack that makes the whole film hold together for me. And I'm glad we share the same interest for him.
I'm also glad that the blobs of colour work for you. They were only half intentional, and caused much hair pulling - so it's good to know that the result looks okay :)
Jack Twist isn't only a romantic young rodeo cowboy, but also this middle-aged Texan businessman
omg *glomphug* I love you. This is amazing, and it is beautiful. He is one helluva man, and I am not talking appearances, though they are nice, too. And dedicating this to Jenna and her Ford-dealership Jack just makes me love you more.
