Speck Woman - (mostly) finished!

And so it is that bit by bit, leaf by leaf, computed breakdown by computer breakdown (because the file became so damn HUGE), I sort of finished the illustration of the Speck woman from Robin Hobb's Shaman's CrossingWhat began as an entry for a contest ended as just a try to use Painter some more, and give justice to Hobb's wonderful character. Beautiful! I love her hair and the ground and the green stuff on the tree.

Anyway, constructive criticism VERY welcome
Criticism? for what?
What for?
This is a wonferful drawing! the colors work perfectly together, and the details are wonderful. I absolutely adore the way you drew the hair, and the leaves of the tree. Utterly perfect.

♥♥

Believe me, there were (are still?) lots of things to criticise! I brought it to the Epilogue forums and ended reworking the contrasts and saturation so that the foreground stands out better. I hope it will enter the Epilogue galleries that way :)

And anyway, THANK YOU! I'm really glad it worked for you like this, and that the colours felt all right.

Maybe I can't see as good as professional artists after all, but the saturation, and the way you drew contrasts on the leaves -- were perfect to me.
It's all about my opinion, and even if others can tell you there're still some problems, there's always an end to a picture, and I do think there's no need to re-paint anything else for this drawing. :)))

Thank you!

As for patience, I think that's what's good with CG: you can work at it a few leaves at one time, and can progress toward the end even when you don't feel very creative, just adding details here and there.

The problem is not to get lost in and to be able to decide when the pic's done :D

With each passing day, I am amazed at what you are able to achieve: in your life, in your artwork. In everything. I'm so glad to have you as a friend. <3
It's marvellous. You know what you should do? Become a professional illustrator.

&hearts!

As for my life, I guess it's just that I talk well of the interesting parts! It's a matter of finding where they are, for each of us, I think...

As for the art, THANK YOU! And you know, I'd really love to illustrate professionally - if I can manage to get enough money to pay for the house... Well, maybe I'll try! Or I'll just go on daydreaming :)

This is simply fantastic, Nassima! The intensity of the background, the colours and textures make everything simply breathe with life and energy. And your woman is just perfect! I love the markings on her face, and how they fade into her hands. The detail here is simply staggering, and I am in some serious awe.

Brilliant!
