sounds beautiful Katie. Hope you are having fun and taking lots of photos to show us when you get back!

your hot norwegian dude sounds good to me. foriegn guys are way more interesting than Aussies/Kiwis. I met a REALLY hot French dude on my Woodford trip, and a lovely Korean guy with heaps of good stories.

rome erin! Rome! I saw the remains of the forum and the reseidence of the vestal virgins and all sorts of old broken bits with signs in italian and latin. It makes me want to study it all agian. ther is nothing that hasn't ben uptouched over the centuries and made good and catholic, the pantheon was turned into a church in at somepoint (8th C?) because the christians walking past felt like they were being got by evil pagan spirits.. whatever.

Rome! all the recent things like manhole covers on the street still have SPQR written on them. so awseome.

no skiing or sledging, there isn't enough time for us to go north cos our eurail passes expire the day after we fly out. north so far = very very expensive, amanda and bruce are staying for a night in the ice hotel in sweden and it's costing them something like a few hundred each for one night. we fly out of rome sometime in the morning on the 19th and I would kill to stay in Japan but don't quite know how I'd swing it, we only stop ther for 4 hours and flights would be a bitch to reshcedule and I'd be doing it on my lonesome.

I bought silly little toy moose keyring things for the cousins from Sweden, they are made by a Swedish teddy bear company and they were small.

I am sure you can re-schedule if you really want to. Look at all your docs - doesn't the travel agent have offices in Europe?? I am sure I read that somewhere. They should be able to do that for you easily. Is Lachlan still there? What about Annika - would she want to stop over in Japan and ski? Anyway, there is nothing wrong with doing it on your lonesome, and we know you could do it. Why not give it a go while you are there - so close.

Glad you are enjoying the history in Rome - pretty mad place,eh? Hope you are also going to the Vatican to see Mick's ceiling. Enjoy!
