Huh. Not sure if I entirely agree with you, but it does seem more fatherly than romantic attachment on Zabuza's side... But I'm completely convinced Haku-kun hero-worships Za-san to the ends of the world.
Anyway, Haku's 15, if I recal my stats right. He's just very... delicate (read: Feminine). So, slashing them isn't so much a bad idea as a little squicky. (And spork knows there's less likely pairings out there *Cough*Kimimaro/Gaara*Cough*!)
I haven't seen the dub yet, but Haku makes some... interesting comments about Zabuza having a "beautiful body" and such in the fansubs and scanlations.
I have a feeling they cut a bunch of that out of the dub.
