Things that bug me about the Naruto fandom, part whatever

1) Chouji-bashing has broken out due to the events of the anime (and I'm not entirely happy with how the Kakashi / Akimichi fight turned out, but YMMV), and one common thing I've noticed is, "He should have stayed dead in Part 1." I'm not going to rant about Chouji again because I've done that, but one thing I've been bothered about lately is: did ( Read more... )

team 10, crazy-ass fans, it's a shounen manga dumbass, narutofan, manga, everyone loves chouji

Ah, that makes sense. I discussed this in the Team 10 FC on Narutofan and one poster pointed out they made Chouji's heart stop in the anime, plus he'd been under the tree for 2 days when he was found. It was never confirmed in the mango that he was dead, though. Ditto Neji ( ... )

Err..that's actually false.

Everything took place in the span of less than a day(the go after Sasuke bit). It just seems longer because it took a couple of chapters to finish it. I think it ends with the Sun finally setting but I'm not too sure. Regradless, considering the research and surgery that was going into Chouji and Neji and the fact that the medical nins already knew of their conditions, it is quite possible that they were picked up within an hour or two after their fights.

That makes sense. I mean, Tsunade probably would have twigged there was something wrong and sent a search squad out or something.

2) Naruto is a manga about a world where ninjas are magic users, not the traditional form of ninja. And why are people complaining of lack of realism then compare it to Berserk which is a dark fantasy manga? That's like me going "Oh man, Dungeons and Dragons is totally not a realistic tabletop RPG but Warmhammer 40k is!"

Probably because people die in Berserk and a lot of Narutards are pissed off that none of the Konoha kids are dead yet. It's one of the most common complaints I see, and "they're fucking ninjas, why can't some of them die?" Maybe cos they're the characters Kishimoto's audience grew up with, and because some of us are more interested in the side characters than Team 7?

1, 2 & 3) When I first entered the Naruto fandom, I had this problem as well. I find it's easier if you just find people who share your views about the manga and stick with them; you aren't going to change the views of others that easily just as they aren't going to be able to change yours. NARUTO WOULD NOT WANT US TO FIGHT ;ㅅ;

It's why I hang out in the Fanclubs section of Narutofan. It's easier that way.

2) While I agree with you, and do appreciate and enjoy the story for what it is, sometimes I can't help but shake my head at some things. I realise it's a story for kids, but it's been years since I first started reading the manga - I was a kid then, but not (so much, hehe) anymore. I've grown and sometimes it's disappointing to see that the story did not grow with me. The themes are getting a bit more serious (politics!, world war!, etc.) but it's still very much the same thing it always was. Make no mistake, I still love it, and that is why I would like to see so much more of it. :)
