If you have any questions about
naruto_choice you may ask them here. A moderator will get back to you as soon as possible.
Q: What is the theme of this contest?
A: [Updated 10.16.07]
naruto_choice is a community of multiple contests. The main one, which spans through the spring and summer, has no theme. Just nominate or submit a fic of your choice to the appropriate categories and voila! You've entered the contest (or entered someone else in it)! The other, shorter contests that take place throughout the year will have clearly expressed themes.
Q: What are the prizes of this contest?
A: [Updated 10.16.07] For the main contest that takes place in the spring and summer the prizes vary, but this is what is generally awarded:
A) A drawing depicting a scene of your choice from your story.
B) A ficlet/one-shot featuring a character and prompt of your choice.
C) Three icons featuring a character or characters of your choice.
Q: Is there a time frame for when the fic was written?
A: There is no actual time frame from when the fic was written. However, if the author is inactive in the fandom and/or do not respond to your e-mails about nominating one of their fics, then it is probably wise to leave that fic and author alone. As past fellow mod
ane_s_thesia said: "What's the point of giving an award to someone who doesn't care....? We want to keep this [contest] open only to active authors who will acknowledge their story is in a contest."
Q: Why are there grouped categories (i.e Comedy/Parody)?
A: Some categories left on their own may not accumulate enough fics to be eligible to compete. By grouping categories with similar themes this will (hopefully) eliminate that issue.
Q: Is there a chapter cut-off for multi-parts? (I.e Is fifty (50) chapters one too many?)
A: A fic can be as long as it needs to be. As long as it is a completed work it's acceptable (the exception being Best Work in Progress).
Q: Can you nominate someone who isn't hosted on fanfiction.net or livejournal?
A: Certainly. Just provide a way to contact them and follow all the nomination rules.
Q: Can you participate in the contest without a livejournal account?
A: You do not need an LJ account to participate in the contest (but it certainly makes posting a lot easier). Just comment on the nomination list what fic you would like to nominate/submit with all the detailed information needed(i.e the information requested via nomination/submission rules). One of the mods will post it to the community for you :). Just please leave a way for us to contact you in case their is an issue with your nomination/submission.
Q: Is there a limit to how many fics you can nominate?
A: Nope. Nominate as many as you like :). Just make sure to follow the nomination rules and attain an okay from the author.
Q: Can an author of a nominated fic vote for themselves?
A: No, they can not. They can pimp themselves out all they want though =).
Q: Is it the nominator's responsibility to contact their nomination's author in the instance that their fic places in a category?
A: You can, but the mods will attempt to contact them with a formal announcement about their placement.
