The hot wind that blew through the leaves spoke of endless sun and oppressive heat. Voiceless murmurs of a village hidden by blinding windstorms and blank rockfaces, too harsh for any plant to prosper, save for the most hardy. The taste of dust and sunbaked air, the faintest trace of voices on the wind. They were more than halfway through the desert already, moving swiftly to return home, hastened on by ill news or orders from higher up.
It would be the childrens' undoing.
Pushing her way through to the surface, she could sense the forest's unease at two other intruders. Their chakras disturbed the balance, filling the air with uneasiness. Light suddenly filled her vision as Zetsu broke through the surface, snapping her trap closed close enough to Kisa's ankle to tear at the shark-woman's leg warmers.
That done, she reached up to pluck the torn fabric from the teeth of her trap, letting it shudder open as she finished pushing free of the shadows and earth below. "They travel north-east from Suna."
"They are...in a hurry...to return."
"No doubt you should be able to find them before they reach the edge of the desert, they are not bothering to hide their tracks." Zetsu's flat gaze flicked towards the harsh sand in the distance. Foolish children.
