Zabuya, as if it weren't obvious enough already, was Not a Happy Camper. Several bruises dotted her skin, and the ANBU guard with her, were she not wearing a mask, probably would have had an annoyed expression. Being stuck in a cell for ancestors-know-how-long had certainly gotten to Zabuya--she was looking as though she was ready to kill someone. She spat out a bit of blood onto the floor, gracing Kureno with a feral, sharp-toothed grin. "Miss me?"

Huh. If he recalled correctly, Zabuya had said something about being compliant with this near the beginning. That was a rather murderous look for someone who said they’d cooperate. Then again, the beginning had been months ago; things couldn’t be expected to remain the same.

“I’ve been thinking of little else besides our meeting,” he replied. Not really a lie, since his one assignment in the past dozen weeks had been to arrange a new genjutsu for an interrogation for her. He was close, but too much time was running on, and he just couldn’t re-invent in a few months what had originally taken him nearly two years to create.

He stood, occupying one of the two obvious circles on the ground, seals and script running around each and up the walls and across the ceiling, covering the entire room with strokes of blood and ink. Indicating toward the other circle with a hand, his tone was not as inviting as his words.

“Please. Sit.”

Zabuya snorted. "How sweet." Nonetheless, she sat where indicated, crossing her legs and clenching her fists. She glared intensely at Kureno. "Any idea," she asked, "why the Hell this took so long?" She was still perfectly willing to cooperate, but she felt this needed to be said. Being left alone in what was little more than a cell had reminded her unnervingly of Orochimayu, and when the guard had come to collect her, she had attacked him-her?-on pure instinct. Though she regretted that now, she didn't show it, and instead continued to glare at the other ninja. "And what are you planning to do with me once this was over?" A life of being forced to keep up her guard at all times had honed her instincts almost to the point of paranoia, and frankly she expected to be betrayed and killed, with Haku dying as well. Even so, that would be better than a seeming eternity of slavery under that snake-eyed bitch-or anybody else, for that matter.

“Our apologies. The original plans for this session were taking too long to complete. As such, we’ve decided not to stall any longer and I’ve been assigned to stick with something more familiar to me.” There was no need to tell her he was the one in charge of the “original plans” and that it was more or less his inability to reconstruct his own jutsu that delayed things. What he said was enough.

Sitting back down, he thought of how to address her other question. “I myself have not been informed of what’s to happen after this session. What happens may depend on the information we receive from this. I’m not the one who can really tell you.”

He reached down and picked up a match, drawing attention to the small collection of dried flowers between them. They had been just an added precaution with Kabumi and normally Kureno wouldn’t have felt he needed them. But as he’d been having difficulty keeping a full night’s sleep recently, the extra help wasn’t going to hurt.

He looked back up at the captive. “Ready to begin?”
