Dunno if you already heard this, and I have no idea how credible the source of it is, but I read a rumor that the original creator felt he wasn't getting paid enough for the series (and considering all the merch they've come out with for the series, he may be right to feel like he's getting the shaft), and so he's sitting on the "okay" for them to go ahead with the second season.
Thanks for sharing that! I heard something similar, only that it was Kadokawa holding out for more money... who knows? I just hope that the novel series at least gets an ending :/
Kyo-Ani's been kind of erratic lately too - they had like three different announcements for Haruhi, then they suddenly announced an anime for Tonari no 801chan and just as suddenly cancelled it, and now they're working on Munto... I wish some intrepid blogger would release a rumor or something. I don't even care if it's fake!
