Find a good book to live in

Jul 29, 2009 16:03

It's decided: I'm moving to the south of the country to become a librarian. I suppose it's about time I grew up and moved out of the nest, but godammit is it frightening. I'm currently working on finding someplace to stay - the semester starts in late August. The best part, though? Living in this new city, I'll be only a few miles away from where ( Read more... )

:o, nerdy matters, baby's first drawings, leaving the midnight sun, rg veda, about me, *waves otp flag*, fail, icons, rp is inspiring, i'll look back at these and weep

It's always frightening to move, no matter the reason :x But yay for decisions \o/

Re: Icons: I like the last two =3=bbbb ... Did you shade the skin in the Okiura pic with black/gray?

Well, I've moved plenty of times before, but never on my own. o.o;;

Thank you. I like those two and the Okiura one the most. No - with various shades of brown, actually, but it's not surprising that they'd appear a bit grey, since I smudged them with the pre-existing black shadows a bit.

Taking the second last one, it looks great!

Also yay for moving and growing up, I'm sure you'll be mine. (Though I understand how it's scary.) Good luck!

Feel free to. I'll probably edit it at some point, but...

And thank you!

Whoo! Good luck with your new job! And yeah, moving out must be frightening - I still haven't left MY nest. ^^; But anyway, it sounds like a good kind of work! Um, please forgive me if it's a silly question, but do you have any kind of special education or is it possible to become a librarian without that? I'm just really curious about this.

Oh, actually, I'm moving to start studying at a university to become a librarian - sorry that was so unclear. I used to think there wouldn't be that much prerequisive education or experience needed to work in a library, but it's been close to impossible to get employment anywhere without it... This particular program I'll be going takes three years to complete, and you end up with a Bachelor's degree.

Thank you for the well-wishes!

Ah, okay, I see. The situation is generally the same in my country, yet at the same time, I personally know a couple of librarians who don't have this kind of education and nobody seems to mind that. Well, in any case, it seems like a good career choice to me personally. Anything related to books just sounds nice. ^^

Yeah, judging from the course schedule, most courses seem to have more to do with culture politics than actual library work, but that's interesting, so I'm looking forward to it. Not to mention one can study literary criticism at the same time as a side course.

Oooh a librarian. That's so cool.

And it's scary to have to move away, but if you seem to know what it is you want to do and how to do it, so that makes it a bit less scary and intimidating. I'm sure it'll be great. Good luck!

My brother keeps saying I should aim much higher than that, but I think it's a profession that'd suit me, really. I wouldn't enjoy managing a company or being a doctor, I don't think.

Thank you, Robin. You know I wish you all the best in your moving, too.
