I remember this whole stuff going on at the time, right down to advance rumours that the Bush administration was going to stage an al-qaeda heist during the DNC just to undermine their media coverage.

ShrubCo is even willing to damage their own trump card, the war on terror, in order to achieve positive publicity against the Democrats

Nah. This one worked in their favour. DNC got undermined. As a result a few Brits got killed, generating more international support for authoritarian government, restrictions on freedom and communication etc.

Win-win from a Bush perspective.

Damn, I'm sure I didn't used to be this cynical.

Yes. It is not difficult to add two and two to make four. Anyone who expected they wouldn't is dangerously naive.

This one worked in their favour.
Win-win from a Bush perspective.

Not in the long-term, regardless of what ShrubCo believes. The reprecussions have only begun to play out.
