The lesson of the '40' bottle of cheap liquor, 17 August 2004It came to my attention some time ago that British people do not know what a 40 is. Although it did not come as a surprise that 40 ounces of malt liquor is a unique invention for the American alcoholic and underage teenager given the different measuring systems used in the two countries

Also, it's worth mentioning that Busch is not malt liquor, just incredibly bad beer. For the true experience one needs must acquire by whatever means Colt 45, Old-E (Olde English), or King Cobra. Private Stock will do in a pinch.

Damn. People actually drink that stuff? I thought the kept it in the liquor stores as an interesting conversation piece.

I've figured out it's about 1.2 litres in real measurements and not a king brown

Which is a bit excessive for beer, but then it is American beer which is, and I quote "as weak as piss".

Malt liquor, on the other hand, is not weak as piss. Unless it's the piss of a Serbian drunk on moonshine. Which would probably taste slightly better.

Malt liquor is normally around 6% so it's not a weak as piss.

Still tastes like it tho'.

My to-be-brother-in-law in his infinite tackiness (god I love him) has one of those neon light-up Schlitz signs in his basement bar. My sister-in-law hates it :P

There's a great bottlo near me that has those waist-high round coolers - about six of them, filled with various 40's. I love that place. It's amazing what variety comes in 40's now... :P
