I decided to check out a nearby pond yesterday for my first day fishing this year. Ended up catching about 50 sunfish with one being respectable sized. Maybe I'll make a new icon out of the picture. A friend of mine ended up meeting me at the lake and then we went to Coldstone to use my coupon since it had to be used by May 8. I realized I'm not

Ah, fishing. :) My grandparents lived on a lake and so did we when I was growing up. My grandfather made and still makes his own flies & other bait by hand.

I remember how sunfish bite when you swim in a lake and it has a particular "suck" feeling to their little bites. They are a lot of fun to catch. :)

Where do you like to go fishing?

I'll go anywhere for pretty much anything. If I could, I'd be on Lake Minnetonka or up on Lake of the Woods most of my summers. In the cities, I have gone to Cedar Lake, Lake Independence, and Taft Lake (near work) and am planning on exploring more this summer. My dad is thinking about getting his boat this weekend from my brother and then we can away from the congestion that will start happening on most of the close lakes. I'm also probably going to get a hitch for my car with some of my refund so we can use it instead of the gas guzzling Suburban my dad has a hitch for. Walleye and Bass season opens Saturday, Bass opens May 28, and Muskie on June 7. I purchased some heavier equipment so I'm thinking of trying to get my first Muskie this year. We'll see. There is a reason they call it the "fish of 10,000 casts"
