how sickening is it that it wasn't just CNN?

ABC News makes excuses for the rapist
NBC News laments the boys’ “promising football careers.”
The Associated Press and USA Today stress that the victim was drunk.
Yahoo News says the victim has forced the town into an emotional situation

Yep...if this didn't strengthen my reason not to like these media outlets before, it definitely has now.

Then again, as I said on my own journal about this:
You know what? I'm totally fed up with the victim blaming that society, let alone the media, pulls on victims of crime and abuse. The ONLY fucking time where I don't see any victim blaming going on is when someone is actually murdered, which says something to me. Had this girl been murdered by these boys after they raped her, you better bet your damn asses that these dipshit reporters and victim blaming assholes wouldn't be bitching about how these two young football stars lives are now ruined. In fact, these very same people would be raising hell about the opposite about how these two boys should suffer if they had actually murdered this girl as people in India raised hell when that rape victim that was brutually gang raped on that bus died as a result of her injuries from the attack. It's interesting, yet sickening imo, how perspective changes when someone actually dies ( ... )

Oh wow, I didn´t know anything about what´s going on in your country since a few days ago. The time to post the rape subject again in my journal was purely coincidentially choosen, you know that, we talked about your "If you could see yourself"-vid in February. Here in Germany we do hear more about what happens in India for example then US American internals, so I was clueless.
Now after reading a lot about the case and everything I totally agree with you... it´s sickening, everything is sickening and just horrible.

I have an "Anonymous comment left on the CNN petition demanding they apologize for sympathizing with the Steubenville rapists", which is very hard to take. I´m going to post it on Sunday. To me it almost seems now that such things happen in your country all the time. Is that true?

*hugs*

The double standard sexist of the attitudes, conditions and behaviors in the whole thing is freaking infuriating. :(
