run-up to Worldcon

Having waited to very nearly the last hour, I finally sat myself down yesterday and devoured the entire Hugo short-fiction slate, all of which is online, before voting, and oh! The novelette category! I mean, everything nominated was good, but this category, I don't know what, but it was just fully wonderful, and had the winner of the year for me,

Ooooh, thank you for linking to the Hugo short fiction online! And reminding me of Pol Pot's Beautiful Daughter. Ryman gave a marvelous reading last year at Wiscon, but I utterly failed to track down and read this or any other of his work. Such is my state of perpetual distraction.
