Summary: Emily travelling to Naomi's house
Emily guessed it would take her about 20 minutes to cycle to Naomi’s house, plenty of time for her to calm herself down. She hoped. She was so full of nerves and excitement, both bouncing off each other, she felt like she was going to explode.
It had been such a confusing last few days, Emily found it hard to understand where she stood and what Naomi saw her as: a friend, more than a friend or just someone she wanted to get to know better? Their time together had been such a roller coaster of emotions: down when Emily first went to Naomi’s house to give her the presidency application, up when they had relaxed and had fun and fallen into a warm vodka induced sleep and then down again earlier that day when that stupid prick Cook had made some joke about Emily being Naomi’s girlfriend.
It had really upset Emily seeing Naomi so hurt at college. Trying to fight back her angry, confused tears as she screamed at Emily to leave her alone. As much as those words had hurt Emily, almost gave her a sensation of being stabbed in the chest (so that’s what heart-ache was) it had hurt just as much to see Naomi in so much pain. Emily had wanted to grab hold of her right there and then. Hold her close, let her cry out all of her pain and tell her everything would be ok but Emily knew she couldn’t do that. Not yet anyway. She hoped one day she could be that girl for Naomi but just not today.
Emily tried to put that incident to the back of her mind. She was sure Naomi hadn’t meant it anyway, after-all she was probably just as unsure of things as Emily was, if not more so. So if Naomi needed time and space to figure things out, Emily would give it to her, with the hope that Naomi would decide she did want Emily too.
Despite what had happened earlier, Emily was sure the rest of the day would have to improve. The sun was shining, the birds were singing and as cheesy as it seemed, this gave Emily hope. Everything seemed better when the sun was shining. Also, Naomi had been the one to phone her, totally unexpectedly and asked to meet up. She could have rung someone else but she chose Emily and the red-head took that as a positive sign.
As Emily neared Naomi’s house, she tried not to let doubt take over her thoughts. She didn’t want to contemplate all the ‘what ifs’. What if Naomi had changed her mind? What if she didn’t want to go out anymore? What if she had invited some other people too? No, Emily told herself. Don’t turn into the pessimist you always end up being. Continue to think positive for once!
She turned round a corner and began manoeuvring her way around the various cars that were parked outside the miss-matched houses. Emily loved Naomi’s housing estate. It looked so strange and was home to so many different types of people. The diversity was intriguing but calming. From 70’s style condos to modern ‘Sims’ style houses and old couples to young ‘hippy’ families, Emily thought it was the perfect place to live and be gay. To be different. Much better than Emily’s street where everyone was so posh and proper and had their heads stuck up their own arses, forever competing over which kid threw the best birthday party or which family had the best car. The materialistic objects of success really pissed Emily off. Couldn’t people see there was more to life than money and things!? She felt like she was living on the set of a real life British ‘OC’ or ‘Gossip Girl’ drama or some other shitty American show Katie was obsessed with. She definitely wouldn’t be accepted in her community if she told everyone she was gay. She’d be ‘the freak’, ‘the bad one’, the girl that brought her yuppy street to shame.
Before she had time to ponder much longer on how shit her home life was, Emily came to a more recognisable part of the estate and felt warmth radiate throughout her. Naomi’s house. And sure enough there she was, sitting on her front wall, the object of pretty much all of Emily’s thoughts: Naomi.
The sun was shining off her bleached blonde hair and reflecting from the gold chain that hung from her neck. Her unique sense of style was just one thing Emily loved about Naomi. Woah, there it was again, that word: love. It felt right though, it wasn’t admiration and it definitely wasn’t lust. Emily decided not to get into another heated debate with herself, after-all that was lame and it would have proved a problem anyway because she had reached the point where Naomi sat, waiting for her to arrive.
She got off her seat and stood awkwardly between Naomi and her bike. For god’s sake why didn’t she have more confidence? Why did she have to get all shy again? She looked up at Naomi and offered her a smile, Naomi smiled back and Emily relaxed a tiny bit. There wasn’t anyone else there, it was just the two of them and Naomi seemed to be in a better mood than earlier which gave Emily two less things to worry about.
Naomi bent down to pick up her bike and Emily couldn’t help but snatch a look at her exposed legs and her behind as she bent over. Emily almost hit herself. Christ girl, stop perving! She quickly looked away before the other girl noticed and got back on her bike.
“You ready then?” Emily asked. It came out much quieter than she had intended and this annoyed her, as if it wasn’t obvious enough already that she was feeling majorly shy, her voice sounded tiny and pathetic. She suddenly wished she had some of Katie’s confidence. She seemed to have stolen all of those genes as well as everything else and left Emily as the lesser rated, loser twin. Emily felt better though when Naomi smiled at her again, a really heart-felt smile that showed through her eyes too and almost made Emily melt. She had to fight the urge to grab her and kiss her right then.
These urges to do things to Naomi, good things of course and for Naomi to do them to her were getting more frequent and more intense. Emily was falling for this girl big time. It scared her and excited her at the same time. It was a feeling she was still getting used to and she wondered if anyone else in the world had felt it before too.
“Yeah, I’m ready. Lets go.” Naomi said, mounting her bike and allowing Emily to lead the way. Emily took a deep breath and headed in the direction of her favourite place. A place she wanted to share with Naomi and make ‘theirs’. The place she hoped would spark the start of something between her and the girl she couldn’t stop thinking about.

Just for the record, i happen to like The OC, Gossip Girl, etc etc but it doesn't seem like something Emily would watch, in my opinion, it's much more of a 'Katie show' lol. Just so people don't hate me..... =P
