Thanks. I was a little sad you weren't in chat when it happened, but I did it! You were pretty close. Are you done yet?

Awww! I was totally with you in spirit!

No, I'm 1k off of winning, but I'm not going to be able to do it realistically until Tuesday evening. I don't know if I said when you were around, but I'm going through a restructure at work and have to interview for my own job on Tuesday, and have packed days of prep until then. :(

I could have finished today if I could moving on this presentation I'm writing, but I'm pro-cras-tin-a-ting.

Aww!

You'll totally get it. It's *just* a thousand words. And you shouldn't use bad words, either, Blood. lol

(1) OpenOffice has pretty well been replaced on the development end by LibreOffice. Try that sometime. I've found it works in at least one way that OpenOffice stopped working (support of .fodt files). It seems that Sun used to manage the repositories for OpenOffice, and the they held the copyright. Sun was taken over Oracle, who apparently screwed things up by trying to take it private, whereupon most of the volunteer developers left. So a bunch of them got together, took that last free version from Sun, renamed it, and have been forging ahead ever since ( ... )

I will definitely keep all of that in mind. After this, I'm ready to ditch OpenOffice. Thanks for the information!

Congrats!!! :D

Also, since I'm using Open Office as well... how did you find out that your word count was off? :-/ Now I'm a bit worried as Open Office is telling me that I'm pretty close to 50k.

When I went to validate. Open Office said that I had 50,000 words exactly (which was pretty cool). But the NANO site said I had 42,---. I won't lie, my heart broke a little. I'd go a little over 50,000, by about a thousand at least, before I went to try and validate, knowing what i know now. Good luck, you can make it!

Congrats! Open Office and Google Docs have the same issue...word count! I get WAY different counts from Google Docs and Word.

Thanks. It's crazy. You would think that there wouldn't be a word count issue.
