Word-Count Boosting Mini-Meme - JOIN IN!
In hopes of boosting my word count, I'm going to shamelessly steal borrow an idea from takatohedgehog.I love the idea, and think it is a GREAT potential word-count booster if people participate. Let's do it!
1. Post your story's vital information (setting, characters, perhaps a brief plot synopsis).
2. Fellow board users will make requests for short drabbles based on pairings or situations they'd like to read about. The finished drabbles will be a.) posted as a reply to the requester's comment and b.) inserted into your story in some way.
3. This will be more effective if everyone who posts vitals also makes at least one drabble request!
In other words, tell me what you want to see my characters do, and I will write a drabble. Ask for flashbacks. Ask for glimpses of the future. Pair them in crazy ways. Whatever.
My story: Tangled
Setting: a slightly altered-from-reality version of Roanoke, VA
Plot Synopsis: A girl finds out that she will become one of the Fates on her upcoming 16th birthday. She begins to see the ways in which people will die when she makes skin-to-skin contact with them, and does not want to become responsible for pushing people toward their destinies. A boy claiming to be one of the Furies offers her a potential way out.
Characters:
Leah Williams - FMC, 15 years old, will become one of the Fates on her 16th birthday (November 13th).
Miles Williams - Leah's dad, an African-American geneologist, Baltimore native, and cancer survivor. An Aquarius.
Catherine Williams - Leah's mom, a Greek-American emergency room doctor who passed away when Leah was young. Was one of the Fates. An Aries.
Jen Faysal - Leah's best friend, Lebanese-American, a very talented dancer and slightly above-average student. Her dad, Mark, is an ER nurse. Her mom owns a fabric/knitting store. She's a pisces.
Daniel Gallagher - Leah's best guy friend, a nerd who loves punk rock, comic books, and RPG's. Super awkward around girls. Will probably attend MIT after high school because he is crazy intelligent. Comes from a large family including a little sister named Bridget. He's a Virgo. Leah has dreamed about his death and prevented him from eating a cookie full of allergens.
Gavin Thane - one of the Furies, the group that opposes the Fates and seeks vengeance for the dead. His father and mother were both English professors and he quotes Shakespeare when he feels it is appropriate. Drives a motorcycle. Tall, dark and brooding. A Gemini who can be very persuasive and charming. When Leah touches him, she sees a variety of possible destinies.
Charity - the creepy old lady that tells Leah she will become a Fate.
Louise - The head librarian in Leah's neighborhood, her dad's boss. A former English teacher.
Jack Parsons - the Volkswagen dealership owner who sells Leah a Jetta. Leah forsees his death.
Todd Ranier - the basketball player Leah has a crush on.
Cate Morrow - the student council type Todd is in love with. Very perky and outgoing. Supports any cause she hears about, bake-sale style.
Angel - a paramedic who is actually one of the Fates.
Stacia Demetros - a new girl working at Knit Wits.
Dr. Johnson - Leah, Jen, and Danny's biology teacher.
Martha Martin - Leah and Jen's dance teacher.
Nikolai - the lead singer and drummer of Leah's favorite local punk band.
NOW TELL ME WHAT TO DO WITH THEM.
