NaNoLJers 2011 Anthology

Feb 14, 2011 15:34

The NaNoLJers 2011 Anthology is a go. The image above is going to be, at least in part, our cover image and will be a picture you’ll see popping up again and again in this community over the following months. The details for the anthology are below.

Purpose: I want this anthology to be inclusive of all the writers from the NaNoLJers community regardless of what stage of their writing career they are in, from brand new writers to seasoned veterens. It will give us a chance to showcase and share our work with each other and, to a lesser extent, the public at large. Publication in this anthology will not count as a traditional writing credit because, while all included works will undergo an editorial process, I will be accepting at least one piece from each submitter (providing they follow the guidelines).

Submission: Submissions will open toward the end of the year. In order to submit you need to be an active member of the NaNoLJers community. By active I mean you’ve commented, or posted, or something. It doesn’t have to be every day or even every week, but something more than only lurking would be fabulous. If you’re shy, even just leaving a note on a writing prompt saying ‘This inspired me to write something’ counts. It counts more than you may think, as a matter of fact.

All potential contributors will be asked to submit up to five pieces of work that were inspired, in some way, by the NaNoLJers community. That may mean you wrote them in response to a prompt or exercise, or it may be a less direct connection. You became friends with someone you met at the community and something they said inspired you to write, for example. It still counts.

Reprints are okay. In fact, I encourage you to publish your stuff elsewhere first if you can/are so inclined. That’s because, as I mentioned, this isn’t going to be a traditional writing credit, nor will it be a paid one.

One (or more) piece from each submitter will be chosen to be included in the anthology.
Because of legal issues fanfic will not qualify for inclusion. Sorry.
Publication and Distribution: The anthology will be laid out by myself (Rhonda) and/or my husband, who also does the Niteblade layouts. It will be available as a .pdf download and also distributed as a trade paperback through a POD service.

Payment: All contributors will receive a .pdf copy of the anthology. Depending on our POD service a discount on paperback orders may also be available. Any profit received from sales of the anthology will go toward buying the NaNoLJers community a paid account on Live Journal.

Questions? If you have any questions let me hear them, I’ll answer and start an FAQ section for this entry.

Submit: Click Here and submit up to 3 pieces that are some how NaNoLJers-related. Please include your LJ username in the cover letter

Deadline: Submissions are open from August 30th until October 31st
