I feel like this is such a stupid question, but I can't figure it out. I have my friend's user name, how the heck to I add her? I don't know her id number thing, just her user name.
If I'm hearing correctly from others [I haven't visited the site myself recently] the author search is down, so that makes finding people a little bit harder to do. If you can, get your friend to give you the link to her profile, which would look something like "http://www.nanowrimo.org/user/111111"
The number at the end will be her user number and you can just copy/paste that to your web browser and add her from there.
The author search is down, so you can't search for someone. However, if you have a friend added who has your friend added, you could go to their buddy page. Or ask her for the link to her profile page.
Send your friend a NaNoMail (which you can do if all you have is a username) and then go to "sent items" and you'll be able to link to her profile from there. It's a backwards way to go about it, but it works.
You could also just pretend to be sending her a nanomail, and just fill it out with random "blahblahblahs" so it has a title and some text in the box, then hit "Preview" instead of "Send." It'll give you a link to their profile in the little Preview area above the subject box and you can just click on that and add them from there. (:
