These things all sound lovely! I'm having a pig of a day, I'm compiling a list of people to stab which has cheered me up tremendously but I've also had nice chocolate biscuits and lots of warming tea and I'm wearing some new stripey tights from M&S who seem to have had some sort of tights epiphany this season and created some beauties. Oh and the current issue of World of interiors is brilliant and I wouldn't normally buy it but they're featuring upholstry fabrics by making them into big mad stuffed shapes, like giant padded fish and greek urns.

Garnering satisfaction that even while my Work Laptop has died, that the likelyhood of the memory to fix it isn't going to arrive for a while, I was able to get my Mac to do some of the stuff I needed to do.
I swore I would do some chip design on a Mac and I've done it.
Entering SMUG mode.
BUT the main thing that I am looking forward to is the end of the day :)

High-speed pottery sounds a lot more dangerous than it should. It's funny you mentioned the divide between throwers and coilers/slabbers. I love that as a metaphor becasue I think most activities (including scholarship) can be metaphorically subdivided in this way.

Aren't you glad you're flexible?

I'm almost always a slab/coil person, I have to say. Sometimes my inner-thrower imerges, but the result is often a little wobbly!
