yum, tastiest lunch sandwich ever: cheese roll+ wholegrain mustard + cheddar cheese + tomato paste + spring onions.

I am in the process of preparing a costume for a "medieval" themed dinner at a conference I'm going to. As many of you know, my fibre sport is knitting, NOT sewing. Unlike nurse_liz and claire_wain the precision necessary for cutting out patterns ( Read more... )

The Harrogate Public library... there aren't really any other options for us. I will have to get the next Temeraire book, but will wait until my bank account is speaking to me again.

Well I don't know about recommendations, but I will tell you to avoid anything written by Charles Stross. Avoid it like the plague ( ... )

ULG is a great favourite of mine, and I remember you rec-ing Olivia Butler to me before, but hadn't followed through.

Hmmm, have you read any of the Lois McMaster Bujold books? I have heard recommendations but they were from sources I don't necessarily trust (from whence I also got a TERRRRRRIBLE book which was basically a bad historical romance novel disguised as time travel fantasy).

I haven't read Bujold for no good reason whatsoever, but my parents are both fans and they keep telling me I would like it. I don't read it because it's a big series and I'm a little anal in that I have to start at the beginning.

Of course if you're looking for romance novels in the packaging of fantasy/sf I *might* have friend who knows some titles. I of course stick to pure literature..er..pulp.

Oh, another gret book you'll never find at you're library:
null-a by von Vugt (if i recall correctly), Level X (very depressing, forgot the author)...I'm sure I can come up wiht more, theirs just a brain blockage going on due to to much data.
