The Pangs of Frustration

Apr 14, 2009 01:29

I broke one of my goals, which was to not to go back and revise any of the Fallen Moon comic pages that I had deemed "complete". The first reason was because I've been feeling frustrated about my art, and whenever I'm in that sort of mood I end up redrawing old things. Then that's where I end up in a cycle where I do nothing but redraw old stuff. ( Read more... )

well I do like the semi real look, and your painting sure has gotten better.

only thing is the hand on the last panel its off. I always have a small mirror near me to get the gesture. You could also try posemaniacs.com since they have a hand section

Hiya! This is grey_damaskena. I'm sorry to be leaving you a comment so randomly, but I dropped by because you're a member of the saiunkoku community. I just wanted to let you know that there's currently a poll running on the community to gauge interest in getting the Saiunkoku Monogatari light novels translated into English. The number of answers in the poll could very well determine whether or not we ever see an English version of the novels. So if you have the time and have not done so already, we would really appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to answer it.

Please either drop by the saiunkoku community (the poll is in the fifth post), or click on this link to go directly to the post.

Thank you very much for your time, and for your interest and support of Saiunkoku!

. . . and your art is gorgeous, btw. ::impressed like whoa:: What treasures one finds among the many decrepit journals one must spam . . .

I'm prejudiced because I like your old style, but I prefer the original version of this page better because it's more visually distinct -- I look at it and I know it's yours. That's the look that attracted me to your work.

The new version definitely looks great and shows you're growing as an artist. The art is technically a big improvement, and if it were applied to a new subject instead of an old one I'd probably love it. But here it just seems to be gilding the lily, and in the process, sacrificing personality for technique.

If I had a vote, I'd say leave the old pages alone and try out the new style on a new project instead.
